THROWBACK
We started as Mawer Consulting in 2013.
After building a steady client-base and noteworthy reputation over seven years, 2020 brought a new and exciting era for our company. In looking to the future, we decided to rebrand as Accumulate. This directly communicates our focus on helping Perth businesses grow and reach greater profitability.
WE CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU
When you partner with Accumulate, you’re a part of our team.
We genuinely want to see your business succeed, and help you feel empowered in what you do. The only way we can do that is through a partnership where you’re a part of the team. As we work together, we’ll get to know you and the intricacies of your business to ensure our strategies are more tailored to suit your needs.
Here’s who you’ll be collaborating with at Accumulate.
Greg Mawer, Director.
Greg Mawer FCPA is an accountant and business/tax advisor, and a Director of Accumulate Accountants + Business Advisors.
He founded Accumulate in 2013 (originally as Mawer Consulting). The multi-award-winning firm is located in Applecross, Western Australia, and helps business owners achieve what they desire through strategic business advice, accounting, and taxation.
Accumulate has been trusted by the State Government of Western Australia to deliver workshops on a range of business topics to small business owners in Western Australia, as well as by the Commonwealth to deliver advisory/workshops to business owners in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland.
Greg is the Advisory Board Chair of a Mining Services Company, a Non-Executive Director and Treasurer of The Chamber of Arts and Culture WA (the peak policy and advocacy body representing the arts and cultural sector in Western Australia), a Non-Executive Director and Treasurer of The Last Great Hunt (an internationally renowned collective of six theatre makers) and Advisory Council Member of Linkxar (a forward looking global alliance of independent accounting, audit, tax, legal, financial and technology services firms).
Greg is the Co-Founder of the social enterprise Nick’s Jerky, which is a social enterprise supporting mental health and making Australia’s best beef jerky. 50% of the profits are donated to organisations helping with mental health.
Greg is the Founder of the social enterprise Mawer Money, which aims to generate awareness and improve people’s lives by teaching them the required skills and highlighting the importance of financial literacy in making a better community and world.
Prior to founding his consulting firm, Greg worked for BGC Contracting (now NRW), initially managing the tax function for the business and later as the Project Accountant for the Koolyanobbing iron ore mine (BGC provided drill/blast/load/haul mining services to Cliffs Natural Resources - at the time 11 million tons of ore per year and over 1,000 team members).
He also worked in practice prior to this, initially at the boutique CBD based firm Andreas Walewski Consulting, and then for middle sized Subiaco based firm Pike and Skinner (now PKF).
Greg taught at Curtin University (Curtin Business School) for 15 years from 2005 to 2020. He started teaching undergraduate university level at the age of 20, and postgraduate university level at the age of 26. Greg has inspired young minds in both undergraduate and postgraduate units, including Accounting Computer Packages, Accounting Modelling and International Finance.
He was selected by Curtin Business School to be a visiting lecturer to Hong Kong University (SPACE) at the ages of 26 and 30. In 2012, he won the Sessional of the Year in the School of Accounting.
His qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) and First-Class Honours in Finance (CWA of 81%). He completed his dissertation on the ex-dividend day behaviour of the Australian stock market. He also completed the CPA Program, the CPA Public Practice Program and is a Registered Tax Agent.
Greg has been a member of CPA Australia since 2010 and was appointed as a Fellow of CPA in 2021 at the age of 36 (at the time he was one of only 132 FCPA’s under the age of 40 in the entire world to receive this prestigious accolade).
In his downtime, Greg enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, and cooking/consuming good food and wine.
